alocasiaxMischaracterizing antinatalismas a vegan antinatalist (who wanted biological kids for a long time), it’s super frustrating to hear antinatalism be mischaracterized. Many within the movement DO NOT believe that people in majority world/global south/whatever your preferred term are to blame for unfettered reproduction. Those that willfully reproduce when birth control is accessible to them AND are aware of how messed up bringing more kids into this garbage fire are culpable. I’m also not antinatalist because I’m worried about any possible biological children of mine not being vegan. I am more concerned about not being able to guarantee that my offspring won’t suffer and/or won’t regret their existence. Which is impossible, and the ethos of antinatalism. Antinatalism, like veganism, is fundamentally a philosophical movement, which is not rooted in the conditional. I can imagine that the hosts of this podcast are not vegan solely for environmental reasons, just as antinatalists don’t hold their position because of climate change/capitalism/perhaps arguably “fixable” issues. Antinatalism is not a distraction from those issues, or even a response to them. The “inconveniences” of life, even for privileged people, go beyond merely standing in line or needing to fill out forms, which the hosts dismissed callously. Fundamentally, no unselfish reasons to reproduce exist. I would encourage the hosts to further educate themselves before speaking about a topic they clearly know so little about.

MadVeganLove This Pod!As a vegan for 17 years I find hope and connection listening to Vegan Vanguard. I appreciate the mix of personal stories and general information about what’s going on with animals and vegans around the world.

PopNLocke777GreatThis podcast is one of my “go tos” for leftist insight. I love Mexies’ perspective on all the topics she discusses.

thsbrhrkbsjjsnrbtkawesome!I’ve been a leftist for a long time and relatively new to veganism. I have been frustrated by the fact that even though veganism is inherently anti-capitalist and anti-capitalism is inherently vegan, a lot of vegan activists and content produced don’t seem to realize or acknowledge this. This podcast is fantastic, and I’ve found the interviews really interesting even when they aren’t about that connection specifically. Love your Ursula Le Guin quote at the beginning!

Anarchist BastardEnlighteningThough I’m not fully vegan, the conversations are educational and thought provoking

JustAMom3421We Need More Educated Self Aware Humans Like MexieI discovered Mexie from Beau of The Fifth Column. If you are looking to educate yourself, about real current events and what our societal norms should have been evolved into by 2020, Mexie is a must listen to podcast. Open your mind, heart, ears, wallets (if you can), and subscribe to Mexie.

Gitsie2008Great show!I saw a recommendation for this podcast on Reddit & checked it out. The first episode I listened was the most recently released (episode 58). I found it to be incredibly informative & well researched- the interview with Dr. Estes was interesting. I listened to it twice to fully absorb the information & analysis presented. I plan to listen to all of the episodes by the end of the year!

osmsingerFascinating podcastReally interesting topics, pertaining to leftist issues in general and feminism and veganism as well. These women are also really enjoyable to listen to, despite the heavy topics covered they remain pretty positive. Thanks Vegan Vanguard!

mmaarrsshhaalllllllllFeminist master classThis podcast is one of the only places in my life where I can find radical feminist discussions. As a cis white male this show allows me to educate myself and be a more thoughtful person.

laborkyleThoughtful and entertainingThoroughly appreciate the hosts’ even handed and thoughtful takes on a large variety of subjects. Great guests too. A very good show that’s perfect for the mid-afternoon break when you want to yell at your boss. Why not listen to VV, relax a bit, and then organize your workplace instead?

AlejandroRodriguezVegan as a political stance! brilliant!Mexie and Marine are staples, would recommend for anyone interested in leftism, or just literally anyone, they are phenomenal to listen to, love their discussions and information.
-
KatrinalucyMy favorite podcastThis podcast is binge worthy!! Mexie and Marine brought me into leftism. They are so funny and well-educated, and have a thoroughly researched viewpoint on how capitalism, speciesism, sexism, racism, ableism, etc are deeply intertwined. This podcast needs to be more famous.
-
FLtoEuropeIntersectional ideasI love this podcast and all of the different topics they cover from anti-capitalist ideals, veganism, feminism, etc. I totally recommend!
-
addy_riverasondaI am a big fan of both of your brains!Marine and Maxie, are amazing! They are inspirations to always keep studying, learning and questioning the systems around us to be and do better. I am a big fan of both of your brains! Thank you for sharing your worldview with us!

jules trujillorighteous accessible and earnestI'd never heard these kinds of intersectional breakdowns of how capitalism and all the awful -isms that go with it intersect from a spiritual perspective and look down on animal rights activists. But I can't stop listening to these rad women and they bring on great informative guests too. They really make the connections, they're not holier-than-thou, and the somehow keep this content from being depressing! love from Richmond, California

Katia-StarLove it!Cheers from Peru. I love this podcast, it has opened my eyes in a lot of ways plus introducing me to new ways to support the revolution from my little corner. I’m not vegan yet but I want to do the change soon, mostly it’s about the cost gap but I’m doing my homework to adjust. Here, we have mining as a great problem for the world and whole villages, plus deforestation and rampant corruption. We are receiving venezuelans and the situation is hot with a lot of xenophobic rethoric. It’s a shame but I’m defending their rights at least between my circle. Well, hope you continue, love the voice of Mexie (the accent haha), I also follow you on YouTube. Love your work, keep it going. Bye!

jodied04Just greatWords cannot describe how inspiring and fun this pod cast is. Even after a really heavy topic the bearded vegans do a wonderful job of bringing back life and humor before sending us off with their final 7 words. I truly enjoy the bloopers after each episode especially when Andy sings while Paul is peeing. I mean how much more could you ask for!? 😁

all sentientsThank youThank youMaxie, thank you Marine

Allie4865Subscribe even if you’re a non-vegan (or non-leftist)!More than some other leftist podcasts, the tone is welcoming and empathetic, speaking to experiences and thoughts that are perhaps widespread but rarely articulated. As such, this podcast may be more friendly for “beginners” who are just beginning to explore serious anti-capitalism. I appreciate the thoughtful coverage of topics such as the Syrian Civil war and your connection of “personal” problems to larger social structures.
-
FfcbvcSuperb content! This podcast is one of the few pieces of media I actually look forward to and get excited about.
-
thom bjorkgreat source of leftist informationMexie and Marine are academics who like to have conversations on anti-capitalism and how--dramatic gasp--speciesism is directly related to capitalism. They're occasional guests are also extremely educated on their particular subjects, tunneling into understated leftist topics like pinkwashing, bee survival, and environmental racism.
-

BdyibI wanted to like thisInteresting subject matter, but I cannot listen to something during which the word “like” is used so often. It’s distracting.
-
BananahammockkkkkkkkkradI heard Mexie on Rev Left Radio and really enjoyed what she had to say, so I gave her podcast a shot and I'm SO GLAD I did! These awesome revolutionary women are so knowledgeable and just a delight to listen to.
-
LivJackellGreat resourceJust started listening and it is a revelation to come across other fully anti-capitalist critiques of animal agriculture. The hosts also continuously bring up issues I’d never considered before in this whole interrelated mess of living on a colonized planet. I’d love to hear a discussion of the new book “Aphro-ism” by the Ko sisters, on the show!
-
DrHollandXVXPlease don’t stop making this podcastI’ve yet to listen to an episode from these two brilliant women just once. I can’t wait to see everything they have planned for this podcast. Thank you both so much for the work that you’re doing!

Lamar WallaceQuality ContentThis is a podcast that wrestles with the intersectional quality of veganism. The importance of this approach to veganism cannot be understated. Engaging with veganism as a movement while having perspective on the larger social and political context is the only way to comprehensively unlock the praxis's value within human society and for the animals. I particularly appreciate how unafraid they are to critique capitalism (although they could benefit from coupling their theoretical rigor with a historical rigor more than they do (which I find to be more devastating to anti-anti-capitalist vegan (like a bas le ciel...whose critique of "left-wing politics" is far too flawed (even by his own standards)) arguments and assumptions). In doing so, they present a relatively strong anti-capitalist argument for veganism that is 1) too often ignored by the majority of commenters (I have seen or heard) in the vegan community (even as they craft their own anti-anti-capitalist arguments for vegan activism); and 2) painting a much needed picture of veganism that illustrates its compatibility with the wide range of human social experience around the world. In my opinion, this is a vital element for mobilizing any potentially successfully vegan movement in the future. If I have one major critique, I would say that much of their commentary could benefit tremendously from a more nuanced engagement with intersectionality. Intersectionality as a method can be very useful. However, sometimes they refer to intersectionality as an explanatory framework for oppression. This has such limited validity, I'm not sure its worth doing at all. In my view, recent academic discourse has put forth pretty devastating critiques of intersectionality as an explanatory framework, especially in the context of gender theory. Nevertheless, these two women have a podcast and individual youtube channels that are criminally undersupported by their vegan comrades.

Cade |-/Such a good podcastI’m digging this podcast so much. It’s such a good listen when I’m on my commute and at work! It’s nice to find a leftist podcast that isn’t focused around a certain ideology, but as a radical movement as a whole.

Wickehd WitchGreat!!I've loved watching Marine's videos on youtube so when I saw Marine was involved with a podcast I was super excited, I think it's a great platform for her. I've enjoyed getting to know Mexie through the podcasts so far. I'm glad for the topics that are discussed. My only complaint is that they go by quickly and aren't longer ;)

-
junglegirlThought-provoking yet still entertainingAs a long-time fan of Marine’s YouTube channel, a privileged vegan, I’m thrilled that I can now listen to her whenever and wherever I want in podcast form. I’m not as familiar with Mexie’s work, so it’s great to hear a new perspective on these issues as well. I’m looking forward to learning more from these two.

TheTrueAwesomeFacePopeWowzers a reviewYou know, I would think this podcast would be a bit popular on the net but then hearing at the end of the third episode (podcast entry?) that it wasn’t shook me. So I decided to spread the word and love to some places on the net in the hopes it would boost this podcast’s numbers on ITunes. Regardless, hope to see more in the future and happy podcasting!

MadBlender (Leslie)Brilliant Podcast!Mexie and Marine bring a fresh and much needed perspective to the vegan conversation, emphasizing that veganism is so much more than a diet. It is a political stance. I am really excited to see the direction this podcast takes, these girls are amazingggg <3
-
mollywrotethisGreat listen for anyoneThis is a fascinating podcast run by very interesting and capable folks! Even for non-vegans I think this is a great way to understand the political side of veganism and see how it can be a really integral part of political action and identity.
