Lolo13419Loved Simon Heffer’s point of viewI couldn’t agree more with Mr. Heffer. How could Harry possibly expect the RF to facilitate a “reconciliation”?? It’s absurd. He’s dragged them ALL through the mud and then backed over them with a semi and yet he wants to “reconcile”? Harry is a clown. He’s a joke and has made a mockery of the monarchy but more than them, a mockery of himself and his spouse. No one will ever respect or take them seriously again.

Silly LeslieA sane, creative voice is a wonderful thing to hearI greatly enjoyed listening to your April 19 interview with Lionel Shriver. She’s an engaging, incisive thinker whose smooth articulateness is graced by a deep, alluring voice. … As a 68-year-old American who grew up in the Deep South and, for the past 38 years, has lived 160 miles northeast of where Lionel grew up, I suspect her lifelong rejection of the GOP relates to both its history of social ostracism and its rah rah America boosterism so characteristic of our youth. (That was my take, anyway.) I also had to reason myself out of disliking my country—which in my case was more about the South than America. But as I’m sure Lionel knows, Democrats have turned into puritans and jingoists, and their party deserves opprobrium every bit as much as the Republican party did back in the day—for many of the same reasons. Reasonable Democrats should walk away from their party, but they won’t because of the cat-and-dog fight soon to take place over abortion. Both parties are being recklessly led by human rattlesnakes who share no concern for those who are getting bit in the fracas.
