One of my favorite podcasts. For the majority of us nighttime is for rest, calm, quiet, and for most it’s when we’re indoors or in some kind of shelter, but some people whether due to work or are in certain creative practices like to do things at night that most people don’t usually do. This podcast tells stories about those people that do things such a climbing skyscrapers, having a unique night shift job, or artists whom are most inspired making their creations, all in the middle of the night and it will absolutely shift your perspective of night time, while told in a calming manner giving a very unique perspective. Listen to an episode and you’ll be a fan. Thanks for creating this, Vanessa.

I love this podcast. The stories are thoughtful, unique, and engaging.

Brilliant show concept -stories of the night; spanning from ancient hidden cave art in France to interviews of people in an Oakland donut shop at 3am. Each episode is its own little world, transporting you to something so far sways and foreign, yet so familiar. Vanessa the host is an expert storyteller, and does a fabulous job of making little movies for your ears. This is my absolute favorite podcast and I’m like an evangelical, spreading the word to any who will listen :)

The stories and soundscapes envelope you like a blanket of night. Great for walking, driving at night. I’ve felt seen by a few of these stories, which was a wonderful experience.

I just heard a review on NPR of my favorite podcast, Nocturne. I could not agree more! Vanessa Lowe has created a beautiful and well edited podcast in voice and music that is always interesting with intelligent topics not heard anywhere else.

Having been mostly indoors for over a year now it’s been a real delight to listen to stories of people out on adventures in the night. I particularly loved the episode about the woman who travelled from SF to Hawaii.

Sometimes lovely, sometimes thought provoking, always a pleasure. My favorite nighttime listen.

I’ve listened to all but a few episodes so far, and it’s been an amazing experience. I’ve felt a connection to the subject in many episodes, whether it’s a feeling, a mental state, or an experience, I could relate. And in some instances it’s a little reassuring that others feel and/or think similarly. Vanessa does an incredible job at narrating these stories and bringing them to life. It’s very easy to close my eyes and instantly be immersed into the episode. I listen to a bunch of other podcast, an eclectic mix, but for me this one is much more of an experience than just a podcast. Can’t say enough about it, just go listen!

A new favorite—just wonderful

I came upon this podcast after seeing a post on insta. Always looking for things to intrigue my ever seeking brain I am not disappointed. If, like me, you are a seeker, this will satisfy your brain for sure. Every episode is unique and so well done. I can’t get enough.

Nocturne is unique and brilliant in the most understated way, the kind of podcast that rewards careful listening. In an era where some creators are happy to produce a great deal of content with very little actual “content”, Nocturne is finely crafted and is one of the best examples of what can be done in the medium.

Nocturne is perhaps the most unique and enchanting podcast I have ever encountered. From the moment I first found it, I was hooked to the details of each of the stories, all so different from one another. Nocturne takes you through a journey of mental exploration, questioning, and expression in ways I am certain you have never experienced. I always get so much out of the episodes. I highly recommend to any and everyone, but especially people who are longing explore the quirks of human nature and our innate desire to romanticize our existence.

...I don’t understand what is going on with pod’s feed in Apple Podcasts. Almost entire of my history of listening was lost. I can accept it once, everybody can make a mistake even the greatest. But it happens again and again. I want to see when I was listening to each episode. But even most recent three episodes has been disappeared from recently played. And because of that this app regularly ask me do I still listen this podcast and stops downloading new episodes because it think last time I played this show in 2018. It’s a little but annoying obstacle to fully enjoying this show. Please do something with it.

By far my favorite podcast. Your voice, the sound design, everything makes me feel like I'm in the woods at night. Just one thing, Barn Owls hunt by sound, not by light/vision. Sorry! I discovered this by listening to the music collection (soundtrack, sort of?) on Bandcamp. This is the first podcast I have ever listened to regularly. Having been a night-owl in the past and also having worked overnight shifts on a few jobs, I can certainly relate to the “upside-down” feeling of having a schedule that is inverse to the majority. The stories are unusual and interesting, and the background music is perfectly suited to the dialogue, which Vanessa delivers in a lovely, almost hushed tone. I look forward to hearing a new tale each morning as I am fortunate enough to be starting from the first episode. I hope you can continue to find new content and keep this going for a long time to come. Thank you!

I also train at studio naga but I am not yet a black belt. I was at Calley's test and I didn't fight her on her night walk because she ran so fast past me. It really is different every time
